Female Fertility Testing

Women will be called on Day 2 or 3 of menses and will undergo

1.Basic Scan to evaluate Uterus and Ovaries.

2.Hormone evaluation

The type of lab tests will depend on your health history and what diagnoses your doctor is considering. Examples of lab tests include thyroid testing, prolactin levels, tests of ovarian reserve and progesterone (a hormone produced during the menstrual cycle that signals ovulation).

Luteinizing Hormone (LH)

Thyroid Stimulating Hormone (TSH)

Prolactin

Anti-Müllerian Hormone (AMH)

3.The uterus and fallopian tubes will be evaluated by one or more of the following female fertility testing procedures:

Hysterosalpingogram (HSG) Dye is injected into the uterus and the tubes and its flow is followed by real time x-rays as it fills the uterus and spills out of the tubes. This is an excellent test to detect blocked tubes.

Hysterosonogram (saline infusion scan) During this procedure, fluid is injected into the uterus and viewed with an ultrasound. This is an excellent test to detect problems within the uterine cavity.

LaparoscopyThis is a minimally invasive surgery wherein a camera is inserted in Abdomen to evaluate the Uterus ,ovaries and patency of tubes.Any pathology detected is corrected in same sitting

HysteroscopyThis is minor surgery in which a camera is inserted through the cervix and into the uterus. This is an excellent test to detect septum ,polyp,fibroid adhesions,scarring within the uterine cavity

The treatment for female infertility can also involve fertility enhancing surgery, medication, and reproductive assistance such as ART. Sometimes several types of treatment are needed to help address female infertility.
